So you just made a backup of your site, but you are not sure where the actual backup file is?  A Hostgator site backup file has the following format:

backup-[date]_[time]_[account name].[compression file extension]

One quick tip to locate the file it to simply look for a large file that was created on the day you initiated the backup!
