“Elephants love reunions. They recognize one another after years and years of separation and greet each other with wild, boisterous joy. There’s bellowing and trumpeting, ear flapping and rubbing. Trunks entwine.”

What is a serenade?
In music, a serenade (or sometimes serenata, from the Italian word) is a musical composition, and/or performance, in someone’s honor. Serenades are typically calm, light music.
The word serenade is the translation of the Italian word serenata, derived from the word sereno, which means “calm”. (From WikiPedia)
